The EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) Africa Alliance webinar on “Competitive Energies to Power Sustainable Manufacturing in Africa” started off with a short overview of the organisation and a formal introduction of the panellists by our moderator, Ms. Svetlana Nyameyo, coordinator of the Africa Alliance.
The panellists for today’s webinar were:

·        Mr. Darlington Ubek, CEO at Luminosity

The webinar emphasised key characteristics of Sustainable Manufacturing in Africa, in addition to renewable energy as an alternative power source. It was also highlighted how governments in Africa are addressing the needs of their populations while simultaneously generating employment opportunities and prosperity, and ensuring cost savings and reduced carbon emissions.
The webinar was successful in establishing the significance of decarbonising Africa’s manufacturing and power sectors, as well as establishing new green assets. The speakers emphasised that the economic growth and industrialisation in Africa would need to align sustainably with the decarbonisation efforts in the manufacturing sector. These actions will bring about significant economic transformations for the continent, ensuring that African manufacturing can maintain its global competitiveness.
