Human activities are estimated to have caused approximately 1.0 degree of global warming above pre-industrial levels, which is likely to reach 1.5 degrees between 2023 and 2052 if it continues to increase at the current rate.
To address this issue, the EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) Climate Action Alliance organised a webinar on January 11, 2023. The topic under discussion was, “The Main Factors of Global Climate Warning”.
The webinar started off with a brief overview of the organization and a formal introduction of the panelists by our moderator, Ms. Judith Yong, who is the coordinator of the Climate Action Alliance.
The two worthy panelists who joined our webinar today were Ms. Greta Dobrovich, a climate change economist and Mr. Massimo De Santis, President and CEO of Free Pack Net Holding.
While addressing the session, the speakers talked about the three major contributors of global warming i.e., energy supply sector (34%), industry (24%), and AFOLU (22%). They also discussed the steady increase in the global climate finance over the last decade, reaching $632 billion in 2019/20.
Moreover, the experts urged everyone to shift towards renewable energy generation which remains the main recipient receiving, attracting over 50% of all investments. It is pertinent to replace polluting coal, gas, and oil-fired power with energy from renewable sources, such as wind or solar, that will dramatically reduce carbon emissions.
We want to thank our speakers for their informed insights on this much-needed topic. Moreover, special thanks to Ms. Judith Yong for moderating the webinar and distributing Tree-Certificates to the panelists.
Above all, sincere thanks to all our attendees – your comments, compliments, and questions. Stay tuned for our next Climate Action Alliance webinar on February 08, 2023, at 9:00 am (CET), about “Climate Change and Human Health”.
