In this dynamic realm that is healthcare technology, the amalgamation of blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) emerges as a game-changing solution for secure and efficient sharing of sensitive medical data. Blockchain technology provides the answer, establishing a decentralised framework that ensures data integrity, privacy, and seamless collaboration among healthcare stakeholders.

To take a closer look at this theme, the EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) Digital Transformation Alliance organised a webinar on August 17, 2023 under the topic, “Blockchain for Secure AI-based Healthcare Data Sharing”.

The webinar started off with a formal introduction of the panelists and the topic by Mr. Salman Tariq, the coordinator of the Digital Transformation Alliance and Mr. Karl-Heinz Schulte, Board member of the Digital Transformation Alliance.

The keynote speaker for the day was Mr. Dr. Julian Hosp, CEO of Cake Group, Author, and Blockchain & Bitcoin Expert in the EU.

His brilliant presentation on the subject matter included discussing the whole Blockchain space, the hurdles that are inevitably in the way and whether the industry really does want to implement its use. The need to protect it and simultaneously build it was touched upon, with over 100 potential uses for Blockchain highlighted.

Mr. Hosp emphasised the pros and cons of Blockchain in Healthcare, with specific mention of the aspect that is organ donations; an upside being the production of strong background data and reliable medical records.

A few questions were posed at the end of the session, after which a short summary of the webinar was captured. Essentially, as we navigate the intricate landscape of healthcare data sharing, perhaps it may become evident that the fusion of blockchain and AI holds the promise to empower patients, clinicians, researchers, and institutions alike.
