The development of 5G technology made the world imagine about the network’s speed, lower latency and massive IoT connectivity. 5G would transform communication between humans, machines, and sensors to realize a connected, smarter, and a safer world.
To take a closer look and understand exactly how the 5G technology can make a huge difference, the EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) Internet of Things (IoT) Alliance organized a webinar on October 21, 2022. The topic under discussion was, “Evolution of 5G Technologies”.
The webinar was moderated by Ms. Joyce Mariel, coordinator of IoT Alliance, who gave a formal introduction of the panelists. The event was co-moderated by Mr. Frederik Tchoungui, coordinator of Digital Transformation and Smart Cities Alliance, who also gave a brief overview of the organization.
The three honorable panelists who participated in today’s event were, Mr. Ulf Seijmer, Chief Innovation Officer at Induo and CTO/Co-owner at AKKR8 in Sweden. The second speaker was Ms. Ljiljana Marijanović, Product Manager for IoT Business Solutions at A1 Digital. Lastly, we had Mr. Anastasios (Tas) Papakonstantinou, Senior Technology and Innovation Leader.
While addressing the webinar, the speakers emphasized on the evolution of 5G technology and gave a quick comparison between 4G and 5G. In comparison with 4G technology, 5G is said to be more scalable and potent. Moreover, they also discussed some applications related to 5G technology such as smart cities, telehealth, smart manufacturing etc.
On the other hand, our panelists also highlighted some key challenges regarding the prospects of 5G technology. Some of the challenges were:
· 5G will ramp up threats to cybersecurity and data privacy.
· Scaling Physical Infrastructure
· Virtualization brings new security risks. There is a danger of cross- contamination and data leakage.
We want to thank our respectable speakers for their informed insights on this much-needed topic. Moreover, special thanks to Ms. Joyce Mariel and Mr. Frederick Tchoungui for moderating the webinar and distributing Tree-Certificates to the panelists.
Above all, sincere thanks to all our attendees – your comments, compliments, and questions. Stay tuned for our next IoT Alliance webinar on November 18, 2022, about “IoT and Mobility”.
Furthermore, we would like to invite you all for our networking meeting on October 28, 2022.
