Transportation has both positive and negative impacts. While it provides access and mobility, it also contributes to environmental and health issues such as accidents, pollution, noise, and urban degradation. A sustainable transport policy is essential to address these challenges and support the goals of the 2030 Agenda.

To take a closer look on this topic, the EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) Mobility Alliance organized a webinar on June 20, 2023. The topic under discussion was, “Road Safety as Global Challenge in Mobility to Achieve SDGs”.
The webinar started off with an opening speech and a brief overview of the organization by Judith Yong, Director of the Manufacturing Alliance. The panel moderator for the event was ARZU TEKIR, Managing Partner & Founder Urbanite Venture and Board Member EU TECH Mobility Alliance.

The panelists for today’s webinar were:
·  Bernd Mattner, Entrepreneur | Strategic Consultant of AUTOSAR GPB e.V | Board Member EUTECH Mobility Alliance,
·  Raz Peleg, VP Sales at ADASKY.

During the webinar, the speakers discussed the importance of road safety as a global challenge in mobility, starting with the role of technological advancement and the balance between humans and technology. Also debated, were some of the serious consequences that mobility can have on environment, health, and lastly, security.

Furthermore, the speakers related road safety to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically, targets 5.6 and 11.2, specifically posing questions pertaining to safe and efficient road systems, fair access, and sustainable transport policies. They even expressed their collective interest in hosting another webinar on the topic, as there remain a plethora of ideas to be exchanged.
